Norton Virus definitions Update failure

When I try to run live update on Norton Antivirus 2005 to update the virus
definitions I get the following error message:
"LU1821: This Update failed because it tried to overwrite a file that was in
use. close all of your Symantec applications and run liveupdate again."

I am running on windows 98 system.

It seems to me that this is a virus problem as I cant solve this by regular
means. Do u know of such a virus problem?
