c:\windows\system32\lsass.exe. i have run the sasser fix and it says i don't
have that. whenever i get on the internet it stays on a few seconds then go
to that message and eventually shuts down in about 30 seconds. any ideas?
can't even try to update virus stuff. ran the avg virus on it and it found
some trojan stuff, but that was all. any help would be appreciated.

That message comes up when your computer receives a copy of the sasser
or blaster worm, that is intended for a different version of windows, then what
you are running. Since it's the wrong version for your computer, instead of
infecting it, the computer just crashes. It also means you haven't applied all
of the microsoft updates, so your computer is still vulnerable.

To stop it from shutting down, use start/run, and enter the command
"shutdown.exe -a"

You should then apply all ms updates, virus updates, and get or turn on
a firewall. If you're using windows xp, see
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/enableicf.mspx
for info on how to turn on it's firewall.

P.S. You'll find a lot more people responding in alt.comp.virus, or alt.comp.anti-virus.
This group has very few people responding.
